Shimmying in the New Year...

Happy New Year Belles!

2015 is a special year for the Women's Institute as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. Herts Belles St Albans W.I. is a mere babe at just two years old, but very proud to be part of the W.I. and very much looking forward to the centenary year.

We're saying goodbye to President Lia and Vice-President Dawn who have both stepped down from the organising committee. We thank them for all of their hard work, enthusiasm and the huge contributions they have both made over the last couple of years.

So, the first order of business was electing a new President. Our county adviser Anona came down to lead the proceedings and Emma Cannon (me :-) ) was duly elected. Had I realised I was going to be officially elected, I may have chosen something more presidential than a My Little Pony t-shirt to wear! Congratulations to Bec who accepted the role of vice-president. There was a warm welcome to all the new members and visitors this evening and an introduction to Herts Belles and the W.I.

The main event of this evening was a fun, sassy workout session led by Kerry from B Burlesque. She soon had us shimmying, kicking and whooping our way around the hall with boas and scarves. The Belles did not disappoint with an array of fancy walks and sexy poses!

The other end of the room saw plenty of knitting and nattering as members old and new had tea, cake and a good gossip while working on various craft projects.

It was a great start to the new year and fantastic to see so many people visiting for the first time. We hope you enjoyed the evening and that we see you all again next month! Membership of the W.I. is £36 for the year and visitors are welcome to three meetings a year before joining at £3.50 a meeting.

If you enjoyed Kerry's workout her classes are held at Park Street Village Hall,          Tuesdays 7:30pm £5 check out her website for more information www.bburlesque.com

Next month we are welcoming Dawn Fry, chocolatier from The Melting Pot, who will be telling us everything we need to know about chocolate and bringing some tasty treats to sample - look forward to seeing you then.

Best wishes

  1. I like the way you had planned New Year event in such interesting and exciting way. I am going to open an event planning firm this year, so I am learning things which I will need for a perfect planning. Any suggestions for me?
