Cherry Oh Baby!

There were big ones, small ones and some as big as your head!  I am of course talking of Pom Poms!!

We had a great turnout once again for our March meeting and it was fabulous to see so many new faces as well as some familiar ones too!   Some yummy homemade goodies were brought out alongside Tea and Prosecco and we were off to a great start...

Following a greeting and introductions by Emma and Claire, we had a visit from two lovely ladies raising money for The Grove House Hospice drumming up participants for The Midnight Walk to be held on 11th May 2013 at 10pm.  You can choose to do 5 miles or 10 miles and men are welcome too.  Entry is £17.00 and you even get a goody bag.  We have been invited to put together a team for the night, if you are interested then please contact us or let us know at next months meeting. 

 

We then cracked on with this months activity: Cherry Brooches!   There was a lot of laughter putting these together, with ladies proudly admiring their pom poms (oo-er!) and comparing them around the room, and we were determined not to be beaten by the dastardly of all dastardlies.... the crochet stem!!

 

 

 



 

 

It was a great fun activity allowing everybody to get to know eachother and have a giggle along the way, whilst the end result was successful for most and not so successul for others, the group was united in agreeing one thing - we are clearly never going to wear these brooches in public!!  

Once again we had a great turnout for our Trade Table with this months Red/Cherry theme proving a hit.   If you would like to sell at next month's Trade Table then please contact Rebecca London via our Facebook page and let her know, so we can calculate for space.   Please remember that 15% of all sales will go towards the Group. 



Well that old adage of 'Time Flies When You're Having Fun' rang loud and clear and before we knew it the evening was at an end and it was time to pack up our pom poms and skidaddle.

The Start of Something Special

Well it is all very exciting - our W.I. Group is now officially up and running!!!

 

Our first full meeting took place in February and we were absolutely thrilled with the turn out!  Following the signing of the Constitution and greetings by our Group Founders, Emma and Claire, we cracked on with our first activity and we were officially off and rolling...!

And goodness what talented ladies we had turn up!  Our first workshop was presented by Emma who taught us how to make fabulous Felt Rose Brooches while Jen hosted Knitters Corner teaching us the basics of knitting.  

 

A great time was had by all and it was great to see everyone chatting and having a laugh throughout the evening.

We aim to have a fun new craft to learn each month, however the Knitters Corner will be a constant presence so anyone wanting to learn to start knitting from scratch or even brush up on their existing skills will get their fix!

Another regular feature of our monthly meetings will be our Trade Table, any of our talented Belles who would like to sell any of their handmade wares will be able to display on our Trade Tables, all we ask is that you donate 15% of your takings from the evening to the Group, which will help towards funding future activities and cost of hall hire. 

 

 

We would like to thank everyone who made it along and we can't wait to see you all again at next month's meeting and hope to see lots of new faces joining too!
