Ya Gotta Roll With it...

Please excuse the ridiculously short blog this month, unfortunately your resident Blogging Belle was unable to attend the meeting, however I have been provided with some piccies of the evening and have been well informed that the evening was a roaring success and we were once again delighted to be able to welcome some new faces.

We were thrilled to welcome the fabulous Sarah of Doo Wop Dos as our special guest for this month's meeting.  Sarah hosted a vintage hair tutorial workshop, and the results were excellent!

Paper Cut Roses and Icing on Cookies...

Once again we were blown away with the turnout for this month's meeting! It was fabulous to see lots of new faces alongside our regular Belles. 

 

This month we were delighted to welcome our Special Guest Speaker, the wonderful Nila Holden, who presented a demonstration on icing cookies.

I am sure that our Belles will be going straight home to try to emulate her fabulous demonstration and we look forward to seeing their efforts.
Nila brought along some fabulous customised W.I.  cookies and cupcakes which were welcomed with open arms and promptly devoured by our Belles - delicious! 

 

 

 

Following Nila's demonstration, our very own President, Claire Spake, demonstrated how to make Paper Roses.  These went down very well with our gals and lots of fun and laughter was had putting these together.    They can be made from any patterned paper and we had some great creations by the end of the evening.

Once again our themed Trade Table was a great success, this months theme was Kitchenalia to marry in with Nila's demonstration. 

Next month's table will be Jewellery and Accessories themed, so if you would like to sell at the table, please contact Rebecca London beforehand either by emailing us or through our Facebook page. 

 

 

Elsewhere, the lovely Lia took a moment to speak about upcoming Events in the local area that may be of interest, a list of these can be found here on the 'Local Events' tab.  If you have any events you think may be of interest to our Belles then please email us and let us know. 

Lia also mentioned our Group's first major Event in September - we will be hosting a Burlesque Night!!  So keep checking back for more details under our 'Group Events' tab.  Also if anyone would like to volunteer to help us with the organising, please email us. 

Next month we are very excited to welcome our Guest, Sarah of Doo-wop Do's who will be demonstrating Vintage Hair Styling.  She will cater for all lengths and styles so please don't worry if you think your hair is too short to do anything with - this gal works wonders!

Cherry Oh Baby!

There were big ones, small ones and some as big as your head!  I am of course talking of Pom Poms!!

We had a great turnout once again for our March meeting and it was fabulous to see so many new faces as well as some familiar ones too!   Some yummy homemade goodies were brought out alongside Tea and Prosecco and we were off to a great start...

Following a greeting and introductions by Emma and Claire, we had a visit from two lovely ladies raising money for The Grove House Hospice drumming up participants for The Midnight Walk to be held on 11th May 2013 at 10pm.  You can choose to do 5 miles or 10 miles and men are welcome too.  Entry is £17.00 and you even get a goody bag.  We have been invited to put together a team for the night, if you are interested then please contact us or let us know at next months meeting. 

 

We then cracked on with this months activity: Cherry Brooches!   There was a lot of laughter putting these together, with ladies proudly admiring their pom poms (oo-er!) and comparing them around the room, and we were determined not to be beaten by the dastardly of all dastardlies.... the crochet stem!!

 

 

 



 

 

It was a great fun activity allowing everybody to get to know eachother and have a giggle along the way, whilst the end result was successful for most and not so successul for others, the group was united in agreeing one thing - we are clearly never going to wear these brooches in public!!  

Once again we had a great turnout for our Trade Table with this months Red/Cherry theme proving a hit.   If you would like to sell at next month's Trade Table then please contact Rebecca London via our Facebook page and let her know, so we can calculate for space.   Please remember that 15% of all sales will go towards the Group. 



Well that old adage of 'Time Flies When You're Having Fun' rang loud and clear and before we knew it the evening was at an end and it was time to pack up our pom poms and skidaddle.
